Do you need to remove the chain guard for the motion pro? (Or even the laser, for that matter).
No.  I bought both because I first got the Motion Pro then read that they can be inaccurate.  I bought the laser and it really just confirmed that the Motion Pro was accurate enough for me (but the laser thing is cooler and easier).  I didn't need to take anything off to use either one.tZow8hc.png

Hmm now Im tempted by this laser do-dad. From what I can see this other thinger also has a lot of thumbs up on the webs...  http://www.proaligner.com/index.html

I dunno. Are you sold on the laser @rowdy ?

I know the laser alignment tool can help at work with noise/belt wear issues as well as chain alignment

Ordered a Vagabond fender eliminator from Amazon. Should be here tomorrow. Already got everything disassembled. Install should be easy.

@mrpuss   I like the Profi Cat Laser tool, but I just like to buy tech toys and tools, and it qualifies as both. But you pay extra for it.  I think the Motion Pro tool does the job, so it really depends on you. :)    It does work very well.

Checked my tire pressure this morning. Both were 2lbs low. Doesn't sound like a lot, but I noticed the last couple rides that the rear felt a bit 'squirrelly' when leaning into right hand turns.

Finally changed my front tire to the one I got from @pgeldz . Got 18,500 miles out of it! I'm sure I could've gotten more... that is if I wanted it to look like @jeffkisthename 's  :P

1454922654_I409t56b85b9eda4ea.jpegHi,

It's Greg here, I work as a Yamaha sales specialist at POLand POSITION ([HASH]1 Yamaha dealer in Poland, East-Central Europe). Currently riding an XSR900 and just lovin' it!

Together with my friend mechanic we have built a special bike, based on the XSR700. So here's the official story:

"POLand POSITION's Pawel Rybak and Greg Dabrowski, the men behind this Yard Built project, have asked themselves a tricky questions...

As a result we pay a sincere tribute to a first ever Yamaha motorcycle: YA-1, called "Akatombo" (Red Dragonfly in Japanese), first released in 1955.

Built in only 26 evenings, with all mods done inside the dealership.

YZ426 / Virago 1100 wheel combo - front and rear 19", Road Star handlebar risers, YZF-R1 master cylinder.

Vintage replica parts: muffler, air filters, seat, fenders, rear rack, chain guard, handlebar, brake pedal, footpegs, fuel tank (stock XSR700 element underneath), grips, levers, switch controls...

LED taillight + integrated blinkers. Original 1955 local plates with a valid numbers."

What's most important: this project is for the European Dealer Contest - Yamaha Yard Built competition, ending on March 31st...

Please be so kind to spend a minute and after reading this post:

-visit www.yamaha-yardbuilt.com

-find our XSR700 Akatombo POLand POSITION custom bike

-click on the main picture

-click the magic "LIKE" button [IMG]

And if you would ever travel to Poland or any other country in Europe and have some issues with the bike - just let me know and we'll sort it out.

I really appreciate your votes, thanks a lot!

Cant top whats posted above me here. Very cool!

Installed a Yamaha lower cowl, what a cool little aesthetic addition!  ...swore a bit realizing I had to entirely remove my Yoshimura exhaust to do so. Sheesh.
...and installed a dual PMR barswitch for my quad Denali DM mircos.

I just did the Evotech passenger peg delete thing. Seems a little pricey for what it is but it looks really nice and it was a breeze to do so I'm happy.

You sure the pressure caused that? Sounds to me like they could've been cold or maybe the rear wheel isn't aligned properly.
Just warming them up would give them at least 3 extra PSI. Usually lower pressure would make it grip more. Just my thoughts.

This whole bike feels squirrely to me, coming from a CBR500R that handled really well, this bike seems like it jumps all over the place all the time (suspension at 7); bumps, turns, hard braking, hard accelerating (man the front of the bike is light, I can get the front wheel up shifting hard into 4th). Barely any input on the handlebars really makes this thing want to do whatever you're going for. Hard to get used to when coming from something much, much slower.

Sounds like you have it set too high. These bikes are a pogo stick with onehellava wicked rebound if set too hard. Mine is set at 6 for roughly 200 lbs load.

Mine was set at 5 and i was bottoming out the shock going over a bump 265lb load
Bumped it up to 8 then 9 then 10
still occasionally bottoming out and have had the squirrely fwwling the whole time

Installed dragbars from amazon today.
Hmm I dunno, all I can see is that tank sticker.  ;) Those tires though, they look killer.
I got the same bars, along with some adjustable rearsets, makes the ride feel so much nicer. Good purchase!
