I think that is a cell phone mount?

I believe he was asking about the go pro mount on the left front of the tank.

Well, after 1,000 miles of ass  bashing I decided to adjust pre-load and rebound on my rear shock (2018). I'm 6'2", 180#. You'd think it was set just right for my weight,  with position 4 for pre-load and 1-1/2 turns out for rebound (factory setting, both basically right in the middle).

Nope. Very jittery over rapid cheese grater type bumps.  Rebound throwing my butt in the air a bit all day long. Makes you think the seat really sucks, but it doesn't.

Dialed the pre-load to position 2 (softer)  and rebound 2-1/2 turns out (3 turns out is max out soft).

NOTICEABLE improvement. I can feel the road much more precisely, my butt isn't bucked out of the saddle, the rebound is still firm and fast.

A little sag in the rear when I give throttle so I might go 3 on pre-load, but rebound is now under control. This bike is my daily commuter, not a naked track bike. That's how tight the stock setup is.

I'll ride this a few days and see if it's too soft. If so, I'll go 3 on pre-load and 2 turns out on rebound, tops.  But I think this is it.

Yep! Totally missed the other mount.

They look nice but I can't help but wonder why you mounted your GoPro where you did. It's tilted and isn't the video shaky?

Vibration actually isnt too bad at all there, and Nothing I cant stabilize in post. But it was just a temporary thing. I have mounts all over the bike for different angles. Switch things up occasionally.

Decided to pop on a 17T front sprocket for an upcoming trip and found this.

GLnzbEgl.jpg

Only chewed on that one side. Outer face looks new.

Looks like the chain has been running tight against the inner edge all along, but why? Notice the offset indentions where the plates left witness marks. Outer face is on the left.

Regardless, the chain is fine and the rear sprocket still looks new ( stock- 9k miles). But I'm very surprised how much better the bike performs with nothing but +1t up front. Wheelies come up MUCH smoother, easier and controllably. Bike still power wheelies in 1st and 2nd, and still pops the front up when you bang in to 3rd and 4th just right. But most importantly, the infamous decel cut snatchiness is nearly gone with this bit higher gearing. I was intentionally jerky on the throttle and couldn't really make the bike act up. These bikes are just geared too low from the factory.

According to the GPS on my phone, with the 17T front, the speedo is still within 1mph up to around 40mph. From 40-60 mph it' reads 2mph slow. From 60-80 it reads 3-4mph slow.

Also made up a little folding phone mount. Been wanting something like this for a while. The case is something I picked up from the local bicycle shop. The rest is just scraps of aluminum and a little powdercoating. Folds away nicely when not in use, but can also fold down against the gauges to help keep the phone from getting a sunburn. Not exactly svelte, but at least it goes invisible when not in use.

The case is a BiKase Handy Andy: http://bikase.com/product/handy-andy-6/

Waiting for the oven to heat up.

Folded away.

Sunburn mode :D

Simple o-ring retains the case to the mount for easy on/off. Just stretches over the two prongs that slip in to the pockets sewed in to the case.

Turned up a little standoff to give me an anchor point for safety wire. Stator cover bolt runs through the center. Not as obtrusive as the pic makes it look, just far enough out to prevent the wire scratching the stator cover. Long tails on the safety wire aren't pretty, but makes it possible to unwire it without tools incase you need to add oil on the road.

Noticed this perfect little ledge that exists on the oil pan, so popped a couple holes and wired that puppy up,too!

One less thing to think about...

Also started fabbing up a new mounting system for my Blaze saddle bags. They are good bags out of the box, but the straps over the rear seat prevent you from using the saddlebags and a tail bag on the rear seat at the same time. So it's time to fix that.

Im very interested to see your solution here. I have the same bags and have always hated the look of the velcro top piece. Ive had some thoughts about addressing it but havent had any good ones yet haha, so ive yet to make any changes. Cant wait to see what you come up with!

Hey bud. Well, I will admit that my solution isn't going to be a super simple bolt-on affair, but it's also not terribly complicated. I'll show more about what I've got going on when I get a little further along.

Saturday was a great day. Spent most of the day installing M4 Slip on, flush mount turn signals, TST fender eliminator and integrated taillight, then rode around to have some fun....

Considering your profile picture I'd definitely think twice about asking YOU for pix. 😱

Sometimes people like to put up naked pics of their significant others on their bikes. We can only wish. Edit: that is if you don't have to resize the pic because they're so big. There, safe! 😉

Man, I want that bug! What fun cars! I had a friend who had one in Indiana and it was awesome in the snow, fish-tailing, power-slides, handbrake love, etc. It almost seemed un stoppable.

Just got my new Renthal Ultra-lows on and man oh man what a difference. Went for a quick ride but already love em. Anything lower I think wouldve been too low for me I think. They provide a good amount of lean, a little more over the tank, giving me a much more secure feeling. Now to finally make a decision on some rear sets.

Yeah, bug's are the best. I love old vw's. easy to work on, easy to make stupid fast. My kids love it too because of all the attention it gets.

Hmm...  Does that mean I have to post pics of my ASS before and after I did my rear suspension adjustment??? 🤔
