Power commander wouldn't allow me to upload the 2020 map onto it. So I ended up copying the values from the 2020 map on to the current map.

Did you copy the fuel & ignition tables?

Noticed recently that my coolant temp was constantly changing. It used to settle on 178f and just stay there, but it's been bouncing +/- 10 degrees lately. Figured I'd check the coolant level and the reservoir was empty. The cap had gotten pushed off somehow! Filled it up and the temps are steady again.

Whipped up a little locking tab so that won't happen again!

Very nice!

But more importantly how are you riding that would cause the cap to come loose in the first place?

Just shut up and ride.

I don't know. The cap didn't feel super loose, but it wasn't exactly tight either. Maybe it's not rated for 100mph+ 😉

I fitted some GB Racing engine guards,

The quality is impressive, and worth the cost for the protection they provide if I lay it down at the track.

Did a Track Day at NYST yesterday with my son and some friends. Tried out a new rear sprocket, 42 tooth, like the new R7. I liked it, gives a little more range in 3rd and 4th gears which I use most of the time. Got some good pictures too.

What do you think of going that sprocket change for the street?

I’m not sure. It will let you run out all the gears a bit longer and lower rpms a bit. On the track I use 3rd and 4th gears most of the time, I like the change  in these gears.  Overall torque still feels good. I think I used 3rd and 4th a lot on the street, so I probably would like it here too. Only downside I see is it could make 6th feel more sluggish.

Mine has 15-42 and yes, 6th feels sluggish.  On the other hand, my current 5th is now nearly the same as stock 6th, so in a way it's like having a 7th gear available to use for steady cruising if you want.  Another way of putting it:  Expect to downshift more.

Interesting i ran 16/43 stock for like 13000 km, then changed to 16/45, i liked it for open roads, increased a lot the acceleration on 3rd/4th/5th and 6th, but the cons were that 2nd was limited, so in town you would be always on high rpm. Id like to try 16/42 probably

Finally after a 4 month wait. Worth every penny and moment (The Akra Carbon).

According to my Swiss co-worker it's pronounced A-Crap-O-Vitch rather than Ak-ro-poovik. It also got the nod of approval from the HD bikers in my neighborhood.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I fitted some tank grips.

When the bike's cranked over I found the standard plastics a bit slippery with leathers, it might also help a bit with hard braking on the track.

How easy was the LED aux light project?

After replacing the headlamp and blinkers the biggest challenge was fitting all the wires back in behind the shroud.

Nice!

You might be able to save money buying the Yamalube by the gallon rather than the quart bottles. Typically cheaper that way.

Never thought I'd be "that guy" that bought Yamaha oil for his Yamaha bike. It's some of the least expensive oil in my area, and judging by the oil analysis' I've had done, it's the best oil I've seen. I'm currently running it in everything. Honda, KTM, lawnmower, tractors... everything!
