It used to settle on 178f and just stay there, but it's been bouncing +/- 10 degrees lately. Figured I'd check the coolant level and the reservoir was empty. The cap had gotten pushed off somehow! Filled it up and the temps are steady again. Whipped up a little locking tab so that won't happen again! Tried out a new rear sprocket, 42 tooth, like the new R7. I liked it, gives a little more range in 3rd and 4th gears which I use most of the time. Got some good pictures too. It will let you run out all the gears a bit longer and lower rpms a bit. On the track I use 3rd and 4th gears most of the time, I like the change in these gears. Overall torque still feels good. I think I used 3rd and 4th a lot on the street, so I probably would like it here too. Only downside I see is it could make 6th feel more sluggish. On the other hand, my current 5th is now nearly the same as stock 6th, so in a way it's like having a 7th gear available to use for steady cruising if you want. Joaoduarte Posted August 1, 2021 Share Posted August 1, 2021 Interesting i ran 16/43 stock for like 13000 km, then changed to 16/45, i liked it for open roads, increased a lot the acceleration on 3rd/4th/5th and 6th, but the cons were that 2nd was limited, so in town you would be always on high rpm. According to my Swiss co-worker it's pronounced A-Crap-O-Vitch rather than Ak-ro-poovik. It also got the nod of approval from the HD bikers in my neighborhood. You might be able to save money buying the Yamalube by the gallon rather than the quart bottles. Typically cheaper that way. Never thought I'd be "that guy" that bought Yamaha oil for his Yamaha bike. It's some of the least expensive oil in my area, and judging by the oil analysis' I've had done, it's the best oil I've seen. I'm currently running it in everything.
