kschent
Just got off the highway from a rather spirited ride, noticed that my bike was making a clunk/knock. When I pull in the clutch it goes away, happens in all gears. Bike still rides fine, no noticeable difference. It's not rhythmic, doesn't seem to be speed or gear related. Chain on the bike is original with ~14k miles. I am hoping it's not the transmission but it's only when in gear, thought maybe the chain is failing and only has issues when it's under load in gear. Going to check chain tension when I'm home but seems unlikely that it's the cause.
Triple Jim
It's hard to guess at what might be the cause without an audio recording of the noise. Welcome, kschent!

Once I'm home I'll throw it up on a stand and see if I can get the noise to happen! Appreciate the suggestion:)
aasjdoak
Does any one else find their gear change rather noisy / clunky ? Especially when changing down ... I've done aproximately 1400 miles and I would say it's getting clunkier ! When I am stationary and engage first there's a proper clunk with the clutch right in .... Any input would be great. Try slowing down more before you downshift. It'll get the dogs closer to the same speed before they're engaged. You should probably start a new thread about this if you want to know more, since this is not the same problem as kschent's.
