Highway cruising

I have a 2016 fz07 and I usually take highways to commute to places. What is considered high rev range for cruising? I’m usually in like the 6-6500rpm range. Is that normal?

I'm not sure there's a "normal".  I cruise in high gear and downshift if I need to accelerate more than 6th gear allows.

It's normal for MT07. You're not hurting anything, if that's your concern. A smaller engine bike will usually be geared lower so it can accelerate well enough. Downside is higher RPM at highway speeds. You can go with a larger front sprocket or a smaller rear sprocket (or both) to lower RPM, but you'll likely hate how "slow" the bike will feel.

4000-6000 rpm can be totally normal, obviously dependent on speed.   The fact is that rpm is where the best road going power delivery is.   Lower is lugging the engine a bit or more.  Most all motorcycle engines are built for good high rpm performance long term.   They can take it.

I remember some years ago there was a magazine shoot out between a Viper and a stock R1. I forget the over all comparison, but one did stick in my mind.   They did three serious racing level laps with the Viper and had to pull off with it smoking.   The R1 was ridden in to the track, run for laps at race pace for the comparison, and back after the comparison.
