Yamaha YES Warranty

I know that extended warranties are a controversial topic, but I thought I would just drop some info for those who may be interested in purchasing the Yamaha extended warranty (YES) for your 07. My local Yamaha dealer ( Zeigler Motorsports) offers the 4 year warranty for $443 OTD, which is the cheapest I have found anywhere to date. I called probably 8 or 9 Michigan dealers and none were even close. Checked online and still couldnt find one cheaper. They offer the warranty for anyone , anywhere with the exception of I think Florida. You can start the order online from their website or call them directly. I'm sure this isn't the cheapest in the world, so if anyone knows of a cheaper deal, post up.

Update* I just looked further at their website and it says Michigan sales tax (6%) is required if you are a Michigan resident. I am a MI resident and I still paid $443 OTD, so, that SHOULD make it around $418 for non-residents....

lol. I think it has something to do with Yamaha's rules and not the dealer. There is a Colorado based Yamaha dealer that sells the YES warranties on eBay and they cannot sell to Florida, Cali or Washington residents...

Typically, when specific states are excluded it relates to those state's laws.

I've been getting weekly emails from Yamaha for this service for about a month now. I've got about 6 months left on the original warranty. I'm debating trading for a 2017 Triumph Striple this winter anyway. Has anyone used the warranty on their bike? My experience with Jap bikes has been perfect over the years so doubt if I'd go with it.

I did not get the warranty. I have owned the bike almost three years and so far have not needed it. I never buy extended warranties on anything and I have saved enough that I do not mind if I have to pay to get something fixed.

I cannot speak for bikes but published research on automotive extended warranties is that they are a waste of money. By far and way most buyers get nowhere near as much back as the "policy" costs. I can personally validate this with two I bought some years ago, even before production standards approached today's. One policy cost just under a grand and I used about $50 toward that. The other was about $1200 and I used $350 toward it. Obviously, no insurance company is in business to give away bucks, so the fact that so many companies are wanting to sell such coverage is a sure sign that vehicles are a far safer bet for THEM than was the case some time ago. Anyway, youse takes youse chances... one way or the other.
