TennesseeCrusin
And I love it. It's the first time I've take the bike apart, so that was interesting. I am officially set with GPS, and a sturdy mount. My puig windscreen should be in today. Only thing left is to figure out how to make the seat a little better for traveling. Premium Member DewMan Posted May 31, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted May 31, 2017 I've been considering that mount also. A review, after a road test, would be appreciated. DewMan Just shut up and ride.
TennesseeCrusin
I took my bike out today for a little bit, to test out the new mount. At first glance, it doesn't look it will hold well. I didn't go above 50 yet, but I did go over some pretty rough roads, and the mount held tight. The ball joint allows for me to adjust it perfect, so I can see the screen without weird reflections. The usb works like a charm, as well.
Premium Member DewMan Posted May 31, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted May 31, 2017 @lstroud91 Thanks for the feedback on it. It's much appreciated. I'm thinking I'd be more likely to have confidence in it if I get a stretchy strap to connect at the corners like the [/url]RAM mount X-grip Tether to make it that much more secure. Did the mount vibrate much? Was the screen still readable at speed? Did it come with an inline fuse? I didn't see one in the pictures. Did you wire it directly to the battery or did splice it into an existing circuit? Is the wire long enough to reach the battery I like the simplicity of the mounting system. No worry about having to find room on your bar for a clamp. I'll assume you bolted it to one of the handlebar mounts or the gauge cluster mounting bolts? DewMan Just shut up and ride. TennesseeCrusin
Hey @DewMan! No fuse on it unfortunately. The wire is long enough to reach the battery and able to be a direct connection, but I ended up using the 12v AUX connector that is already on our bikes. As far as movement goes, It was solid! I never had an issue reading it, and I noticed little to no vibration. I do have it bolted to the back side of the gauges, which was actually more simple than a handlebar mount. I think it would be pretty easy to attach an extra rubber strap to secure it for peace at mind.
