emperor_Wurm
Can anyone tell me what the purpose is of the DNA filter cover? Why do I need to run one? why cant I just install the filter? the filter alone is about 100 bucks, is the cover for an additional 100 dollar needed or worth it? sansnombre
The opening of the cover is larger and designed to match the opening of the filter, in theory allowing more flow. The corners are also radiused, smoothing and enhancing flow as well. In theory it makes sense. On a static bench it WILL flow better than the stock cover. In reality it will almost certainly not make any difference - it's primarily theoretical, but in real life is negligible. There are many factors determining how much power/torque your engine makes, and this trivial enhancement gets lost in the noise. Notice they do not show dyno runs with/without, only static test bench studies. You don't need it.
