Hey Paul, so what were the stats - total horsepower and torque???

You can't just give us a teaser video, and just mentioning a 2.5 hp gain.

Proprietary Information 😅 .. I'm sure there is an old post/video of his old set up with numbers if you dig around for it 😏... Then just add 2.5hp and mentally picture shift the power curve to the right side a tiny bit...

Lol. I hate posting numbers, because they are all over the place, that's why I like showing GAINS instead, when they are done back to back on the same Dyno in the same conditions.

For example, the bike has seen 4 different dynos since I started the transformation.  At one point, there was a difference of 6 hp on the same exact tune and combination of parts in different dynos...6 hp!!!

But you guys want figures anyway, lol, so if I had to average it out, I'd say a solid and consistent 90hp and 50 ft-lbs.

Actually, the old set up wasn't with the motor build, so it wouldn't be a good comparison at all.

I’ll have to find the video content I have on MotoAmerica of the owner or Werkes. He’s a very humble guy ,in my opinion. Qualilty doesn’t come cheap @pgeldz and that’s your business. Just remember people are waiting to hear about the SS version and dyno charts which shouldn’t be to different to TI as the weight would be the only factor. ( I think! I’ve been wrong before)

Proprietary information I understand but, I have to ask. Are you running corello rods. Apologies If I got the spelling wrong. I know proprietary info, but someone has to ask. Right!! No! I did.

Apparently, well so I heard it's the way to go when tracking/racing our bikes!!

As opposed to trying to mash a 190 on. I’ll be looking that direction on a Q4 as soon as I can figure out my suspension problem that’s wearing the leading edge more than the trailing. After watching videos about reading tyres I found that lack of rebound was my problem, but it hasn’t changed since the STX46 shock change, but everything else had changed for the positive.

No Sir,

I've already posted about it, LoL.  Pistons and rods are stock.  We did new rings, head work, springs, full undercut and shimmed tranny, cams, and my air box solution - that's it.  And everything is running on Chevron Pump 91 octane gas.

The problem with dyno charts "in this case" is that my bike wasn't stock, so whether you love or hate the dyno chart, it could be quite different compared to a stock motor.

And even then, my statement of " over 2.5 hp gains and moved the power to the right a bit" may work out to be quite different than the gains on a stock motor, or a different airbox.

We've seen this before with the Akra Ti exhaust.  It's known to make big midrange, but at the same time the gains are quite different whether you have a stock air filter, stock tune, etc.

For MY set up, I was able to confirm what the Comp Werkes Exhaust did compared to the Akra Ti, and honestly, that was my only goal.

So,

Now that the bike is back in my possession, I'm starting on the bodywork...

Did a quick mock up and located points to make a custom fairing stay.  The main tube will be angled lower to match the lines of the Paolo Tex nose piece when looking from the side, which will not only house the gauge cluster, but my AIM Solo2 lap timer as well.

As a bonus, I found a neat place to integrate the RapidBike YouTune controller in the top of the gas tank cover within unobstructed reach.

Once the fairing stay is done and the nose piece is secured, I'm going to extend the shark fins rearward to match the lines of the radiator like my rendering depicted.

I'll also extend the sides of the seat to match the lines of the frame, filling in that triangle void to give me more real estate for my livery.

As far as the belly pan, this is the one from the rendering by Paolo Tex.  I also have one my buddy made that fits the FZ-07 perfect.  I'll use them in combination to come up with a hybrid version...one that looks similar to the Paolo Tex, but that actually fits, haha.

That's the goal anyway.

Here's what the quick mock up looks like:

I like where you're going with this. It's different than all the other R's. Shake up the status quo I say. Plus it drives inovation.

Thanks!  I'm just trying to do it "my way", haha.

I did some sample liveries, and it's coming out pretty cool.  I have two sets of body work, so I'll probably do a "test" livery, and the other will be the final design.

The test livery is like when the big manufacturers do something for their prototype cars and try to hide certain elements of their design with that spy camo livery, to deceive the eye of certain body lines, etc.

It's fitting because there are many prototype items on the bike that have never been done before.  The airbox solution, the bodywork, the exhaust, the wheels, etc.

We'll see.  The test livery will be a placeholder to go run the bike with somethign other than White gel coat, LoL, and give me time to develop the final livery in my team colors.

Looking good Paul, just like the rendering.

I’m still tossing around semi-fairing vs. full fairing. I’ll be watching this closely.

Looks fabulous!

You mention prototype wheels in another post.  Any details?  Are they direct FZ07 bolt-on?  Thanks.

Thanks!  It's far from done though, Lol.

As for the wheels, they are the first Dymag UP7X Forged Aluminum wheels in the FZ-07 fitment. And as a bonus, they made it a captive setup for faster wheel changes :)

Made progress over the weekend.  Fairing stay is done, both front fairings are fitted, and 1 tank cover is installed.

Still have the other remaining body pieces to go before I can start extending where appropriate to match the rendering (fairing sides and seat area).

When it's all said and done I'll have two sets of bodywork right off the bat, and probably have molds made so it's easily repeatable.

The hardest part was fitting the front fairing.  Had to make sure my controls were where I wanted them, as the packaging is pretty tight in there.  After the controls were all installed and the throttle cables were routed where there is absolutely no binding whatsoever, most of the time spent was just staring at it...measuring everything back and forth for hours until I was sure where to make the mounting holes.  Once it was done, the second fairing literally took 10 minutes, haha.

All that time paid off, as there is literally ZERO binding whatsoever from full lock to lock.

I'll clean up the fairing stay and powdercoat it Matte Black when it's all said and done, but for now...still have a ways to go before I'm at that stage.

Also got a package over the weekend from my graphics guy, with samples of the "test" livery pattern.  He did three different sizes for me to choose from, as the crappy rendering I sent him wasn't 100% to scale, haha.

It's coming together.  I'll be out out the woods when the bodywork is done.  Once that's out of the way, I can do the remaining mechanical bits and get this thing on the grid!

I'll keep you posted as always, but for now, pics:

P.S. Before anyone points it out, yes, the clutch cable is not staying that way, haha.  I actually got a new one to install and route more traditionally, on the right side of the bike.  To be fair though, that's how it was routed with the Woodcraft clip on bars in the 1.5 position prior to this transformation, and it worked flawlessly :)

Looking great Paul, nice work as usual. Can't wait to see it with the fairings mounted.

What Master Cylinder are you using?

Cool Run Stop/Start button too.

Thanks Ed!  Using the GaleSpeed VRC 17-17 BS, with their matching cable clutch perch on the left bar.

Hahaha one time Kawasaki used a zebra colored tape to camouflage the body lines of a bike during testing, I can borrow the design I use for my custom shipping bags ( there was a promotion and I like stuff like that  ) image.thumb.jpg.4213bbb5699a8fefe2699ff18bc8c5bc.jpg

jokes aside .. is that a steering stem angle adjuster ? You are going hard on it , I like it !

The difference you say? The one on the right is MOUNTED!!!

Finished mounting the rest of the main body pieces (both sets) last night.  Next up is the belly pan.

Not exactly sure how I'm gonna approach it.  Maybe fit my buddies belly pan first, since I KNOW it fits with his mounts, and then see how much grafting it'll take to look how I want, OR, just hack up the Paolo Tex belly pan and extend and shorten where I need and put it together with popsicle sticks holding the individual pieces in place - then let my fiberglass guy fill in the voids to make it solid so he can make a mold.  We'll see how it goes.

Wish me luck...I'm actually dreading this part of the build, haha.

I want to do the same layout with the dash and a solo 2.  Nice job.  It's tighter in there than one would think.  (I do not own a Solo, but hope to buy a Solo 2 DL.)

You are so right about staring at your project.  That takes most of the time and then thinking about stuff in the shower and the drive to work.

Thanks!  I'm pretty happy with it.  I didn't account for a transponder, so I'll have to re-address the fairing mount and add to it.  Not sure though because it looks clean as is, and I don't want to many things on the fairing stay.  I'll see what makes sense...probably hours and hours of staring at it and I'll think of something, LoL!

The brake lines will be the next challenge after the belly pan.  Right now, there is no binding or interference lock to lock at full extension and normal ride height, however, I have them strategically zip tied.  I can run with it as is, but I'm gonna get new lines anyway (Cause I want different color fittings) and try and find a more elegant solution.

Could you run a transponder under the seat or tail?

I imagine your brake lines are too long now, like mine.  Mine are still the stock lines, but the bars are probably 7"+ lower now.  lol
