mossrider
Missed Friday practice due to new job , sat out Saturday due to sickness , but nothing keeping me outta Sundays endurance race . Spent much of Saturday monkeying around in the control tower. These folks don't get the credit they deserve keeping the show running so us 'racers' can run around acting the fool like we're big shots or something. The above shot is race control. Out of view below the counter is the kid that man's the Ouija board. Busy folks. Below is race registration in the foreground. Timing and scoring in the background. Race control again in the distance. Cool shet goin on there. Of course there are many others out manning corner stations, safety trucks, course marshalls, grid marshalls, paramedics, bambulances and so on.Β
mossrider
I did manage to claim the 2019 chili title. Twas a hollow victory however since the reigning champ was not here to defend. The good Reverend and I had had some epic cheater battles over the years. He was our Chaplin and a retired racer but boy could he cheat! Last year he took all my numbered taste cups and replaced them with his numbered cups, then he offered half off a set Dunlop tires for a chili vote. Good stuff. I have no independent recollection of his cookers getting unplugged or how all his Dunlop tires got switched for Bridgestones either. travelling trophy since 2000, and it's all mine, for a year Jim.Β The best place, The smell of mr12, the sound of a good header, poured rain this morning but you'd never know it now. mossrider
Just now, br4nd0n said: I'm curious what the guard on the bottom of the swing arm really does. In what situation would it help? Commonly called a shark fin or sprocket guard. They are required by many race clubs and organizations. They are supposed to keep errant fingers and toes out of the rear chain/sprocket when you're tumbling through the rhubarb next to, under or on top of your bike.Β Due to the direction of the chain/sprocket rotation it tends to be voraciously self feeding from the bottom, the top spits out whatever it ate. Oh, and it looks cool.
