The Pioneer
Watch out for rust under the chain guide on the swing arm. My chain guide has rubbed the paint of the top of the swing arm and surface rust has started to form. Anyone have any idea how to treat it? The rust wiped away, but if I repaint it it'll just wear the paint back off.
iSmkGrnBud
Repaint it with some rustoleoum and keep a light layer of grease under the chain guides. Grease will repel water and seal the paint surface so nothing can get past the grease barrier. This will hopefully also help friction against the chain guide and paint so it won't wear as easy. It'll be a bit messier than no grease and may attract dirt at the edges if the excess inst wiped away. If you don't like messing with grease they make a spray on aerosol product called dry lube which will basically do the same thing as the grease but it less messy. It's not "100%" dry though, there is still a residue that can be felt.
