Spatt
I’ve told several people I don’t run stops on any of our bike and run bumpers instead on the forks. Here is a blog post about installing them. Check them out over on the blog on the website. topazsparrow
based on the blurb on the blog, this bump stop is an alternative to solid metal stoppers so that if you take a fall you don't damage or bend the frame / tree on the bike?

Correct it gives you a larger contact area to dissipate the force. A fastener has a huge stress riser that is the threads.
