Clunkfeel/sound

Hi!

New here on the forum. I live in Sweden and ride an MT-07 2019. To my question, when I stand still and hold the front brake and rock the motorcycle back and forth, I can feel a slight clunking in the handlebars.  Have found that it is not the steering bearing or the front fork, and it's only when I hold the brake. My theory is that it is the floating discs, or brake pads that move slightly in the brake caliper.  Has anyone else here experienced the same thing?

Have a nice day

It perhaps is the front forks extending to the stops while rocking the bike. Watch the forks

Hi! And thanks for your answer.  Am sure it is not the end positions.  I just need to rock back and forth easily.

There's near a million things that move when you do that, it could any one or combination of those things. Stop doing that! Lol

Seriously tho, it could be cables moving/sliding/rubbing,, it could be the chain/sprockets moving, the brake pads also move ever so slightly, the handlebars are rubber mounted, the cable ends can click in their respective lever perches, the cables are loose fit in the cable sleeves,  wheel bearings, inner wheel spacers, fork covers, accessories, bodywork, seat/mounts, fork stiction causes anomalous sounds and clicks and on and on.

Good luck.

Discs aren't floating.  Pads and caliper alignment is done via the pins.  Which is what I am betting is what you're feeling.

I know exactly what you are talking about.... My 2016 FZ-07 does it, my 2019 R3 does it, my wife's CBR250R does it as well. Not sure what it is, but I think it's pretty normal- 😎

That's what I think too. Just wanted to get it confirmed.  😀👍

Okidoki! I like that answer.

And this I've never heard before "W.O.T. until you see good, then brake". That was funny 😆👍

Normal play with the 2-piece front brake rotors.

That's what I think, too.  But that said, just wanted to get it confirmed. 👍

Don't ever ride with your helmet off because you'll hear things you haven't before and you'll think something is wrong here, there, under that and between those.

Hi guys!  Be with my local Yamaha mechanic today. The brake discs can move slightly in the bushings. That's the little gap I feel.  This is perfectly normal, as we thought.

Appreciate your help 👍

Over and out!
