theconsciousness
Maybe it's my aftermarket grips, maybe its because my bike never came with bar end plugs, but does anyone else notice their bar end sliders or end caps stick out too far past the handlebar tubes? Like on these, I would expect not only the threads to go inside the handlebar, but also the first red section. However, both my Womet-Tech sliders and my cheap Amazon end caps stick out wayy past the grips. I feel like I'd have to have freakishly long grips to cover that section (and I don't want that, cuz the grips may stick to it!) Anyone have any experiences? Edit: I wonder if the previous owner moved in the grips and controls a bit. Maybe I should move them out a bit. Global Moderator mjh937 Posted August 10, 2020 Global Moderator Share Posted August 10, 2020 I am not sure but I think the recessed part that is sticking out is designed to have bar end mirrors mounted to it. I have seen bar ends that screw in and only have the larger part visible, like the stock ones do.
RobZilla
Agreed with the above, looks like those are made for aftermarket mirrors to attach on to. Aside from them looking a little funny Because of the middle slotted area I don’t see any issue. I have weighted bar ends that stick out farther than the stock ones.
shinyribs
The stock bar ends had that reduced shoulder after the threads as well. With stock bars, that shoulder runs flush with the O.D. of the bars, meaning your grip/throttle tube extends over that section of the bar end. They are a bar end, but also an extension of the bar itself. Hope that made sense?

I think I will try moving the master cylinder and clutch lever controls outwards a bit to see if I can get the grips to overlap that reduced shoulder a bit more. I believe that could be my issue, after receiving the bike from the previous owner. Thank you!
