Global Moderator Pursuvant Posted January 9, 2021 Global Moderator Share Posted January 9, 2021 Anybody have a procedure to trigger the abs to cycle, when changing brake fluid? Or any lessons learned about pumping down or bottom up when bleeding? Or leaning bike at an aggressive angle to help clear air from the abs pump? I'm considering adding a banjo bolt w/bleeder at the front brake IN port on the abs, so I could pump down to middle or up to middle (when bleeding front brake) to purge air in lines & abs. I saw a reference to a Yami tool (they don't sell) used in shop to empty abs of fluid.
Devilman
If I seen right, you just need to use a pressurized brake bleeder tool. Use it to suck out old fluid while adding new so you don't get any air in the system. I could be wrong. I was researching that very thing when I was looking to buy steel braided lines down the road. I expect abs could contain a mix of old and new fluid after normal flushing. Plan is purge fluid with pump, disconnect a brake line at abs and suck out as much fluid as remains, snug brake line back on, then flush system down. Because I'm changing brake line anyhow. That's plan, empty abs before "real" flush. But it's not that big of a deal, all the ways shown work good enough for me Edited January 9, 2021 by Pursuvant
