Julian
The 2021 MT-07's rear shock allows both preload and damping adjustment, unchanged from the previous model. The preload is set to 4/7 or around 60%. That feels pretty stiff for my weight and the back has little free or static sag. I will be messing with the settings starting today and report back Edited September 3, 2021 by Julian
Triple Jim
My 2020 has preload and rebound damping adjustments. I don't think anything changed for 2021 in that regard.
Julian
Thank you for that, I edited the post accordingly. I had looked up the 2020 owner manual but maybe it was actually an older one or for a different region.
Triple Jim
The rear rebound damping adjustment was actually added for the 2018 model.
Julian
For anyone interested, with the default preload I had only about 4mm free sag. After experimenting I settled to pos 2 where I have 6-7 mm free sag and 34 mm rider sag. That seems to be a good compromise and the bike aborbs bumps better. I set the damping to 1 1/4 turns, 1/4 turn less than the factory setting. That's where it felt the most accurate to me. I'm gonna ride for a while with these settings and see from there.
