Mud 1 Tail Tidy 0

I did the tail tidy last week with a generic bracket and I wondered if I would lose any splash protection but I wasn't too worried as I wasn't planning to ride in the rain anyway. However I rode one time after the rain when the asphalt was still wet. The result was pretty messy, it's worse in person than in the pictures. The pillion and my backpack were dirty and wet, mud even got somehow to the top of the engine. If I had a passenger they would have been soaked, and not in a good way.

That's not something that I am willing to live with when I don't even ride in the rain... That was that more frustrating as I had just cleaned it thoroughly. I consider switching back to the OEM fender or look for an MT-09 type fender.

Oem fender will slightly keep you cleaner than a tail tidy,  but the tires will always fling stuff on the engine and such. Unless you've got a cruiser with big skirted fenders it's just part of the game. There's a large area on the front of my motor that has zero paint left on it, just bare aluminum, due to being sandblasted by the front tire.

Sucks watching your new ride get dirty. But it's all good...you can't see it from the saddle 😎
