Red FZ-07 from Canada since June 27th

Hi all,

The FZ-07 is my 10th street bike. I took a demo ride last fall on a FZ-09. Truly one of the best sound this triple cylinders. But, i don't need all that power. Even if i'm a Yamaha fan (i learned riding with a MX80), i loved my Suzuki SV650S. So after my ride on a FZ-09, i told my dealer that i'll take the FZ07 in red. A couple of days after the announcement of Yamaha Canada, i gave a deposit for a red FZ-07. I was very happy to read European reviews of the bike.

The first shipment that my dealer received consists only in 3 bikes. I didn't have any issues with my FZ. No stalling issues, i heard a small tingling noise from the front of the bike after a couple of days of ownership. After the first service, no noise were noticed.

I'll take the bike for a short trip next week. It seems that i'm getting use to the discomfort seat (the stock one) gradually. The R6 style seat isn't the greatest idea for a naked.[attachment id=18" thumbnail="1]

past bikes: WR250X, KLR650, V-Strom 1000, DR650, FZ-6, SV650S, Seca II, GS400S, Seca 750, YZ80.

Hey lonerider!

Welcome to the dark side. Good to see you here. I've seen you at the Euro forum. You upgraded from a WR250X just like me!

Another Canadian, not only that but probably one of the first FZ-07's in North America !
Soon we will outnumber those southerners... soon...  P-)

I also took delivery of a red FZ-07 last week.
I am a new motorcyclist and have not had the chance to ride the bike for any lenght of time because I need to be escorted by another motocyclist for the next 10 months (QC rule).

So if anyone in the Ottawa area wants to go for a ride, ring me up, I'll tag along for the milleage!!

Hi dede,

Glad you joined us! Welcome. Don't be shy and introduce yourself in the new member section. People love to read about new proud owners!

I live about 1.5 hours south of Ottawa. If I am ever in your neck of the woods I will be sure to let you know. I can imagine it must be frustrating not being eble to ride much.

Holy crap, they make new riders ride with another rider up there? Wow.
That probably isn't a bad idea now that I think about it.

It is called a Learner's Licence (http://www.saaq.gouv.qc.ca/en/driver_licence/motorcycle/class_6a/index.php)

"Learner's Licence - Motorcycle (Class 6A)

After holding a class 6R learner's licence for at least one month, and passing a driving course that includes a theoretical part and two practical parts, one on a closed track and another on the road, you must pass the closed track test to be issued a class 6A learner's licence.

This licence authorizes you to operate any motorcycle on the road, providing you are accompanied by a rider on another motorcycle.

Practice on the road with an accompanying rider

With a learner's licence (Class 6A), you can learn the knowledge and skills required to operate a motorcycle on the road. You should put in as much practice time as possible on the road. However, you are required to always have an accompanying rider who has held a valid driver's licence authorizing the operation of a motorcycle for at least two years, and who is qualified to provide you with help and advice. The holder of a probationary licence cannot serve as an accompanying rider.

Helmet use is mandatory. We also recommend that you wear a helmet with a face shield, or with goggles if there is no face shield. Clothing designed for motorcycle riding is also required including gloves, a long-sleeved jacket and long pants made of leather or an anti-abrasion material such as Kevlar or Cordura, as well as boots or sturdy shoes."

They require at least 11 months between passing the closed circuit test before I can take my "on-the-road" test. I can sit at home and never ride, then take the test, or be escorted every time, until next May.

The irony is that I could be 16, taken a scooter licence and be able to go everywhere without restrictions. But I only have 35+ years of driving experience, so I can't be trusted apparently :-)

I'll take Guru up on his offer whenever he comes up to Ottawa.

Hi Guru,
It's a bit because of you that i'm here. lol. It's you that make me learn about this forum. Yesterday, i took a small gravel road that i use to take with the WR250X. The FZ-07 did okay. For sure, i want this motor in an adventure bike. On a truly bumpy road, i'd change the 07 for my WR250X. Always put me a smile when the little 250 was sticking on sport bike's wheel on a twisty bumpy road.

To my knowledge, the first FZ-07 in North America is a lucky British Columbia owner (saw that on the Euro forum).

past bikes: WR250X, KLR650, V-Strom 1000, DR650, FZ-6, SV650S, Seca II, GS400S, Seca 750, YZ80.

Oh yeah, that's right, the older gentleman with a white one right? He has to join the dark side too.

Your right, I took my FZ on some dirt roads too. It's okay, but the WR was more at home there. Overall, the FZ-07 is more bike though.

Here I am, the old geezer.. Glad to see all you guys over here. I took delivery of my white one on June 13th and I now have about a 1000 kilos on her. What a sweet bike as you all know. I also have a dual sport which I ride on alternating days. Mine is a XT250 . I also have a BSA and a Royal Enfield.

My dealer has sold 6 FZ-07s so they're a good seller. He said he could sell more if he had the bikes. Let's have a gathering in the middle of our great land, I guess that would be Manitoba. I think we could persuade Cruising to come provided there was a hockey game to watch.he's a big Vancouver Canuck fan of course.
