Premium Member hobbs Posted April 25, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted April 25, 2015 Actually I still have the oil. It's in the garage in a Folger's coffee can. Waiting to see how the new oil looks at 600 miles. It's coming up quick.... http://imgur.com/H5POrCZ Mine looked a lot darker than that, 8,000 miles later it's Saul Goodman still. Everything went braap.
Premium Member phicurious86 Posted April 25, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted April 25, 2015 That oil doesn't look too shabby at all. Did you clean and relube the chain?
bmwpowere36m3
OK, you need to drink less coffee ( i can fall asleep with home brewed Starbucks in my hand) and start drinking better whiskeys. When you said black, that's not the color I envisioned. Yeah, it's not out of the bottle new looking, but that's fine for a 1st oil change. You gotta remember that there are gear bits gets polished, clutch fuzzies breaking free and maybe even some blow-by combustion products in the 1st x number of miles with ring seating. If you really need to feel secure about what's in the can, there's http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ $25 per report. Of course, the 25 bucks will also buy a nice bottle of sippin' beverage Haha +1 That's NOT black... Honestly doesn't look bad at all, but then again color doesn't really mean anything. If you want to see black oil, take a look at a diesel.
fflier9
OK, that makes me feel better. I remember it looking pretty dark coming out of the bike but it must have been the lighting or something. I'm young and this is the largest purchase I've ever made, and it's easy for me to get paranoid. I suppose it's natural to a point...but I'm just going to ride. I did clean and lube the chain, and it quieted down a little. Still that buzzing though. it's the EXACT sound my '85 nighthawk used to make (though nowhere near as loud), which is strange. heeelp my oil is black https://beeravenue.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/p4xzm38.gif
