maalna2
Finding first gear by accident while going 20 mph is pretty eye opening!!! Now the rest of the story. I had just pulled out on to the main street was in second going about 22. The light in front of me had turn red so I was going to shift to neutral and coast up to it. I must have shifted to far and got into first when I let the clutch out the tire quickly let me know my error by cussing at me (chirping). Oddly enough I pulled the clutch in quicker than I ever have and all the world was right again. Once I shifted into neutral that is.
Premium Member rowdy Posted May 14, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted May 14, 2015 Yes, the engine breaking on these bikes is very strong. It has definitely gotten my attention when I flubbed up. Why can't left turners see us?
bmwpowere36m3
Another reason why I don't coast... I leave the clutch in, almost to the point of stopping or engine RPM dropping too low. In the latter case, I'll rev-match and downshift till I stop.
qjohnson
I usually avoid that situation by shifting down into first and then going into neutral.
Premium Member No Hater Posted May 14, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted May 14, 2015 I downshift and revmatch to every stoplight. I always want to be able to skirt out of the way in the event of an idiot coming toward me.
