Global Moderator Guru Posted July 23, 2014 Global Moderator Share Posted July 23, 2014 The cooling fins on the radiator seem very prone to damage. I was 'dusting' off some bugs with a rag and had some wipe marks in no time. Spent the next 15 minutes trying to bend the little fins with a tooth pick to make it look half decent again. I am sure when time goes on it will get worse and worse. That made me think of maybe considering a radiator guards in the near future. These guys have a nice one. Not sure of they are available in NA.
missourifz07
I plan on getting one too. I really like this design and now I am split. Black or stainless....And when can I get one in the US!!
Premium Member Kipawa Posted July 23, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted July 23, 2014 I found this one through a Canadian dealer so far. But do like the one above because of the symbol. Hopefully later this week I will find some time to get some stuff ordered! http://www.motostarz.ca/filter-by-bike/yamaha/2014-mt-07/evotech-performance-radiator-guard-for-2014-yamaha-mt-07.html
Premium Member V8titanpwr Posted July 23, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted July 23, 2014 They are both pretty good looking, but I would rock the first one, shipping from England would kill the deal right now though. Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up.
manuel
Eveotech looks (from pictures at least) a bit less restrictive of the air flow.

Guest MXRider
I had a Cox radiator guard on my 07 CBR600RR. It fit very well and was reasonably priced. They don't list one for the FZ-07, but I sent them an email inquiring if they were going to be making one. http://www.coxracingroup.com/

The only thing holding me back is the fact that it is apparently not compatible with the accessory billet side covers which I was also planning. Oh well... This is how it looks installed. I like how even the top of the rad gets covered.
Killafornia
It seems like this is in the US already. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-FZ-07-Radiator-Guard-/251597173576?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a945c3348&vxp=mtr They have it on brushed stainless too. Global Moderator Guru Posted July 26, 2014 Author Global Moderator Share Posted July 26, 2014 As for the Evotech, I like it that it goes over the top of the rad and the honeycomb design, but why the big stamped EP logo in the mesh? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33459059/evotech.png
afwestpunk
Like the evotech but I do like building my own parts if given the chance but that is pretty dope "It takes an idiot to do cool things; that's why it's cool" - FLCL

Premium Member hobbs Posted September 11, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted September 11, 2014 Looks like a good guard, I like the diamond vs honeycomb pattern. Cox racing should have theirs out this month.. going to wait and see what they deliver. Personally I prefer a guard that covers the whole rad, not just the fins... just for a cleaner appearance. Everything went braap.
Global Moderator Guru Posted September 11, 2014 Author Global Moderator Share Posted September 11, 2014 I liked it because it does not have a big logo stamped it in, just the little FZ-07 thingy at the bottom.

I'm trying to source different material.
nmucat
I made my own out of some 1/8" wire mesh and riveted it to the stock side panels. This should hold me over til I can get over spending money on a professional one.

The way you did it was what I was thinking to do myself. I sure wish they had done the radiator in black. It would look a lot better and then I wouldn't be so tempted to cover the entire thing. ben

cassecou
I may try to go this route. I have enough material to experiment. That looks really good armourbl. I have tried to paint the radiator guard black, but the blue Yamaha logo doesn't stand out too well. So I decided to paint the radiator guard white, and as you can see, the Yamaha logo stands out very well. Next step, I am going to change the bike's color from grey to yellow. I think a yellow tank with a blue frame will be awesome. I do feel sorry for the white and red FZ-07, they have so little colors to choose from, but they ARE the fastest (puke) Don't you love winter? you got to mess with the bike instead of driving it.
