Header Metal/Composition

Kind of a weird question, but does anyone know what the stock header is made of? I got a pretty deep surface scratch from something on the road that must've bounced up and hit it, the scratch is about 3 inches long right behind the front wheel.

I'm wondering if this will rust eventually. Just another excuse to pick up a full exhaust, I guess.

Do you mean in front of the rear wheel??? The removable cover there???  Or, behind the FRONT wheel where the pipes leave the cylinder-head?  Wherever, it is probably not stainless if stock.  But, you might at least check to see if it is very magnetic... Stainless is varying degrees of magnetism from none to some.

Front wheel, oops. Definitely the header.

I would hope it would be semi rust resistant. They're sure to get pretty beat up after a few years. I'm just worried it may have scratched through whatever coating or protection it had on it. It's a good mm deep, no idea what could've caused it as there's nothing anywhere else on the bike at all.

I dunno, but the copper finish comes off with brasso. Then it just looks like steel. Mine hasnt rusted or corroded any so I'd veer towards stainless steel.

Everything went braap.

I'm sure it's stainless. Not really exotic anymore for exhaust systems.

I believe it is stainless steel and minor scuffs would rub off with cleaners!
It's far from a minor scuff. The only way I would be able to get it out would be to use a grinder to completely get the scuff flush. It's deep.
