Posted June 8, 20169 yr Today's ride over Guanella Pass From Grant to Georgetown Colorado. On the way up still on the Grant side of the pass. Note the Ice still floating in the lake... At the pass summit, Elevation 11,670 Feet looking west. At the pass summit looking East. A fast moving cascade of water on the Georgetown side.
June 8, 20169 yr Nice. Looks like there's still a fair amount of snow up high. How was the pass road? Clear of debris? Lots of water coming down on the Georgetown side. That makes for happy rafters and kayakers!
June 8, 20169 yr great photos Zero G! so hey, i'm coming to Denver this weekend...a buddy and i are renting Africa Twins at a Denver bike shop. my question is, when riding up there at elevation, how cold does it get? i've been seeing temps in the 80's and such...does it feel more/less like a "normal" 80 degree ride or is it much colder? i was planning on bringing my perforated jacket that i use in the summer here in Austin, Tx. thanks, marty
June 8, 20169 yr Author How was the pass road? Clear of debris? The road is completely clear and paved all the way through now...no dirt to contend with. My question is, when ridingup there at elevation, how cold does it get? The temps today were around 60 degrees over the pass. Coming from 80 degree temps, 60 can feel really cool. I'd suggest a liner under your jacket as you leave the Denver area and start climbing into the mountains. I had a mesh jacket on with a waterproof liner, a thin micro-fleece shirt and it was perfect. If you go higher it can get colder and can rain suddenly - Hope you enjoy your ride!

January 23, 20178 yr Author Nice dude, i live in Denver as well. Thanks! Actually, I live southwest of Denver in the mountains at about 8500 feet. My FZ is sleeping in the garage until the back roads melt, very icy. I'm a sad rider right now. I do start her every couple of weeks just to hear her purr while I wax poetic about the days of summer past and the summer to come...lol.
