I liked the idea of this bike better than the finished product. Still like it alot, would take it off road before id take a bmw gs or other huge so called adv bikes, but I prefer light bikes off road. Im not one of those to take luggage and crap to get broken on the trail. I pack like when im backpacking, ultra light and fast drying.
 
Im hoping that the 07 ADV bike by yamaha ends up being light. If it's under 400 lbs then they will sell many cargo ships worth.

I agree. If the actual consumer version of the new 07 ADV bike stays true to the prototype, I think it will be a real winner. It should be something that is actually light weight enough to throw around a little in the dirt (although, still not a dirt bike), and street enough to take you where the trail starts. it could definitely upset the balance of the category that the monster ADV bikes have created.
