If an FZ07 owner has $500 to spend on the FZ, what would be the best result for the money item 's for a noticable improvement?

First to come to my mind is suspension, as it makes you actually faster in corners, swerves and commuting. But Flash is also a noticeable improvement right off the bat.

Or, flash and suspension

Or, flash and cheap exhaust

Or...

Ugh, that's a tough number to get anything major done with. Flash plus even a cheap exhaust will probably break $500 easy. Suspension? You could do the Matt's fork upgrades or buy inserts. A cheap rear shock might be had for $500. This makes me sad. Bikes are expensive. On a car you could get an intake and cams, rims, tires, swaybars, etc. Several of those could be under $500. Speaking of that, when is a cam gonna come out for this bike?

Flash and fork springs is a decent combo

The two absolute/only major problems with this bike are the stock power delivery and the forks. Stock power delivery includes jerky-ish throttle and engine braking. Forks supposedly aren't terrible if you weigh 150lbs... I don't. Flash and heavier fork springs/heavier oil GREATLY help both.

Seeing that you have only hit around $400 if you do the forks yourself, I absolutely would add in mirror extenders $30 (arguably a major problem), Denali Soundbomb Minihorn $30, Osram Night Racer light bulb $20, and of course, a R6 throttle tube $20

Best $500 spent!

For $500.... Fork cartridge kit by our forum vendor @pattonme from Forks By Matt. Makes a world of difference. After that I would use $500 towards an upgraded rear shock.

While I definitely appreciate the several props, I'm going to have second the fork springs (if >175lbs), thicker oil (40-45cSt@40), flash/EJK, and R6 throttle combo recommendation. You'll be under $500 by a little bit and it's the most comprehensive set of quick fixes. When you get tired of that and want to reach for more, then definitely you'll be ready for suspension which is more like $1-1.2K to fully address both ends.

This is a great package, though I would go for a radiator guard and frame sliders with the extra $100.  Alternatively I may forego the frame sliders and add the Osram Night Racer if I expected to do a lot of night riding.

You could get the traxxion dynamics fork kit (springs, gold valve emulators and damper rods) for $300 + fork oil, and the vcyclenut flash is $200. I'd just save the two hundo towards a rear shock though. I know forks don't seem like an exciting upgrade to do, but the difference really is night and day as to how far you can push it in the corners.
