Slug
I have a friend parting out his 09 KX450F and I want to grab the front suspension to put on my CRF250L. Would I be able to do this as a straight swap, or would I need other parts or work to make them fit? Any help would be appreciated.
topazsparrow
Are the tubes the same diameter? Are the brake mounts the same?
firstyammerha
I did a lot of fork swapping in my days(mid eighties) as a mx'er/hare scrambler using RM250,RM465 and PE175/400 as guinea pigs. I was surprised to see Suzuki used the same length steering stem, bearings, brake backing plate/fork brake lug position from model to model in the RM/PE line. Virtual bolt ons!I would do a rough measure of the steering heads of the bikes first but you may have better luck with a Honda mx'er fork. Back in the day, I have swapped 38mm forks with 36mm forks by expanding the triple clamp mounts with a screwdriver blade but I wouldn't do this with a much larger fork diameter. As a second thought, check for a CRF or Honda single forum. I think I ran across one some time ago and this was a big topic.
