firstyammerha
Has anyone had the opportunity to ride one of these bikes? I started out with my re-entry program a couple of years ago with a 1989 Honda VTR 250 before progressing up the CC range to my current FZ07. I've ridden the Honda CB300R last year and I have never owned a European bike. I'm getting the urge to add a 300cc bike to the collection so let me know if you have had the chance to take this Beemer around the block.
Global Moderator mjh937 Posted May 4, 2017 Global Moderator Share Posted May 4, 2017 An opinion on @Beemer? Where to start? Oh, you mean the GS310 Beemer...nevermind Seriously though I will be curious what people who have riden this bike think. It looks interesting. P-) I've never ridden a Beemer myself but I know a few women that have and they said the ride was excellent and would ride a Beemer again any time. They must be really good bikes is all I can say. ralph
I was interested, they are going to do a GS type version I have seen but not ridden the road one and it looks very good well priced about 20% less than the MT/FZ 07 but the GS ones launch as been put back with mutterings of problems that no one is willing to talk about, so who knows, I will still go and look get a test ride when the GS one appears but wont be buying one of the first. The revesed cylinder head with induction at the front is interesting but I hope they protect it form road crap if they fit the usual joke front guard the injection body may be short lived. Global Moderator mjh937 Posted May 6, 2017 Global Moderator Share Posted May 6, 2017 Built and assembled in India = no thanks (reliability). That concerned me too but the reviews I have seen say the build quality looks good. I think Triumph is building the Street Twin in India as well and that seems to be doing okay. Maybe they have steppef things up. When I was young buying a Japanese car was a bad idea and now they are world class.
Premium Member maybe07 Posted May 6, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted May 6, 2017 I've thought about renting from Northwest European Motoworks in Bellingham, WA, but they only offer 1100 and 1200 models. Those models are quite a bit heavier than the FZ-
firstyammerha
Good one Beemer. I meant a motorcycle of course. I went by the local euro specialist shop Saturday and they say July release for this model is what they've been told. In the meantime, there's a G310R.com forum available consisting of members from Scotland and India mainly to peruse. There were posts from western US members-Oregon- mentioning a non-rideable mockup that was on the floors of a couple of dealers out there to get opinions from customers. Posts on the bike's forum make it look very promising. The pricing is competitive with the Asian brands so that helps. Youtube videos are tantalizing!
