blankcheese
With the bike up in stands, if I spin the front wheel, should there be any contact between the brake pads and the rotor? I hear a noise like there is contact on mine
rick
Yes indeed. There are no return springs for the pads and always fluid behind them. So there will always be light amount of "touch" between the pads and the rotors. The wheel should turn relatively free, but there will be a wee slight bit of drag. Unless it takes force to turn the wheel, this will be normal.
blankcheese
The wheel seems to be moving ok when I spin it. Thanks for the reply!
Premium Member avanti Posted May 18, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted May 18, 2017 Unless the calipers are equipped with "retracters" of some sort there will always be some rotor-to-pad contact. I've not seen retracters on anything of late.
