Akro db killer mod

I just ordered the Akro titanium exhaust, and I seem to be one of the few that wasn't too leave in the db killer, but I don't really like how the db killer looks (the 2 tiny pipes in the middle of a bigass oval. 

So, would cutting off the 2 pipes close to the flange drastically increase the volume of the exhaust, or should I spray paint it black with high temp paint to minimize appearance?

I live in a small quiet neighborhood and leave for work at 3am, would rather not piss off my neighbors.

I'm in the same predicament, except I have the carbon racing line.  I would not modify it. Paint it black, using high temp paint. 

I'm sure there's a YouTube vid out there with this modification.  If you choose to modify, and regret it, Akro sells those pieces individually.
