Soupys lowering link, mess

Do not try to take apart the stock lowering link on 2018 Mt07..I love my bike, have 63,000 of mountains and twisties miles on it, but I am  getting older, so wanted to lower it a bit, mostly for gravel roads. I have tall boots, and have shaved seat when I bought it new, so I have been the whole route..I bought Soupys adjustable links, HOWEVER, trying to get the bolt off for lower part of u shaped dogbone part is a joke, you have to take most of bike apart.  Of course I cannot return it, past 30 days..ouch. The problem is , after putting bike back together, I have a small spring left over from the left side..Does anyone know where it goes? the kickstand has one, but this one is a little smaller. Help!

Could it be the spring for the brake lever or the brake light switch? This would be on the right side, but if you were working on the shock linkage, you could have knocked it off. See part number 23.

Great example of the need to take photos BEFORE TAKE APART and as work on anything.

I have learned the hard way to do that even on something that appears simple and obvious.

Later you hit a wall - did those wires run on the right side of the steering neck or the left? Which one of those spacers went where, they are slightly different. How exactly was that clutch cable routed in this area...

Then I end up searching for photos online that may show me what I should have taken pictures of before I took the puzzle apart.

I swapped the bottom linkage a few weeks ago with the Roaring Toyz dog-bone.  Instead of disassembling a myriad of parts,  I drilled a hole straight through the left foot rest bracket.  Probably 3/4 inch hole for the pivot bolt of the linkage to come through.  Worked well.  The rearset bracket is aluminium btw.
