Disclaimer: I am not a mechanic. I am not responsible for any damages you do to your own bike, this is simply a guide and is not intended to replace what any service manual says or what your dealer suggests. If you cannot use a wrench or remove a sticker, please DO NOT even attempt this. Alright so here it is, how to sync your throttle bodies without forking out a ton of money at the stealership. This guide will cover from start to finish on how to sync your own throttle bodies including taking the covers off your bike. So with that said lets get started. If you do not have a manometer (the tool used for testing sync) then go ahead and make one. All I use…

I recently got the Andreani fork cartridge kit and definitely got a more involved install that I expected. I figured I should post a detailed install because the instructions the kit comes with are very vague and I had to do a lot of research to figure out how to install it. Once I learned the process and got the necessary tools it really wasn't bad. It should also be mentioned that before this I had never taken apart any motorcycle fork which is why I didn't know what to expect. That being said, if you find anything in my process to be incorrect please let me know. Start off by removing the front forks. I'm not going to explain how to do this. If you need any help,…

DISCLAIMER This was a summary of my experience following the shop manual. You should know that this is a procedure with major potential for damaging your engine if you do this incorrectly. What follows is intended to supplement the shop manual, not replace it. The shop manual is absolutely required for this service as it provides exact steps necessary and corresponding torque values for fasteners and heaps of other useful bits of information and helpful diagrams. Perform this service at your own risk. You should be familiar with taking apart your bike for other service before you begin. You should have a firm grasp of how an engine's valve train…

Below is a tutorial for my high-beam flasher button garage opener mod (anyone have a better name for this thing?). Basically, this mod turns your high-beam flasher into a button that will open/close your garage. Sorry for missing a few photos, I did not take any while first putting this together and went back afterwards to take some. I hope everything is clear enough! First off, here are the parts that you'll need: - Garage door remote opener - This universal remote is the one I used, but really any opener that will work with your garage will do - Approx. 8 ft. of 24 AWG stranded wire - This length may be overestimated, but it is far easier to trim o…

EDIT: I no longer recommend the K&N filters. They used to be made by Hiflofiltro but changed suppliers and now they are failing and leaking oil. Multiple reports of this still occuring with K&N Hiflofiltro still makes theirs and they are among the best for the money get em here MT07 fz07 HIFLOWFILTRO H204 Black Oil Filter YAMAHA Part Number is 5GH-13440-50-00 Get it here cheaper than dealer http://bit.ly/2gYheiW The following are also all compatible. Ok, here's a quick and dirty write up on how I converted my 2017 front end to the new 2018 style. This is assuming you have a general knowledge of pulling parts off your motorcycle, a little bit of electrical know how, and can look at a thing and figure out how to put it together lol. What you do to your bike is on you. I take no responsibility if you mess something up. First, here's the parts list. Keep in mind I reused quite a few nuts and bolts from the old headlight, radiator covers, etc. so this isn't a complete list of everything if you are starting from a blank front end. Headlight assembly (reusing some parts from 2017 and earlier hous…

<-- Part 2 'continued from Part 2 If you have been following Part 1 & Part 2, your motor crankshaft is already in the correct position for removing and reinstalling cams. Essential Knowledge Refer to the third row in the Crank Chart "Crank Rotation Degrees 360" - this is the position for cam removal and installation (cylinder #1 TDC Exhaust Stroke). If the crankshaft has not been turned since the cams were removed, a check of the rotor flywheel timing marks will be in alignment, exactly as they were set before the cams were removed - aligned properly and with cylinder #1 TDC Exhaust Stroke (RED timing mark added for clar…

Part 1 << Part 3 >> 'continued from Part 1 Essential Knowledge These 3 simple sketches are views from the "RIGHT" side of bike (foot brake side). All 3 sketches show the cam gear's timing marks in red for emphasis - they are only stamped lines on the actual cams. First sketch, is what is going on inside the cylinder head as shown in Part 1. Third sketch shows a correct installation of the cams in the cylinder head. But without x-ray vision, the only thing you can see directly while removing and installing the cams, is the sketch in the middle. The intake cam has a single timing mark of interest with a large letter "I" stamped nex…

So I recently picked up and installed the Bitubo JBH and XZE11 rear shock from Bellissimoto and figured I would do a quick install write-up. I installed both last week and after a couple hundred miles and a few adjustments I can say it was well worth it. My FZ is now a lot more stable and it corners just as well as my ZX. Paul was great to work with and was very responsive when it came to questions. The entire install took about 4 beers and one trip to the hardware store. Before you get started you want to make sure you have a solid tool set (sockets, ratchets, screwdrivers, ect), an impact gun, a couple 500+lb rated ratchet straps, a metric hex key and me…

Hello, This guide will demostrate how to install a Factory Pro Shift Kit on FZ-07/MT-07 2015-2019. This guide will also act if you would like to remove the clutch basket(including plates) since removal of these is necessary to install the Factory Pro Shift Kit. My Reasoning for the installation: Had a bike in the past that this was a necessary upgrade(Yamaha YZF600R) to save the transmission. I'm hoping to save any future trouble from the same occurrence. Also, this detent arm is better than stock since it's on a bearing instead of metal on metal as something that rotates constantly(Pictures Below). Id say, overall, shifting was improved by 20% but as many…

I recently set about doing a throttle body sync today, and needed to fully remove the fairings around the tank on my 2018, and realized there's basically no videos or guides showing this with the newer model, and it differs pretty substantially from the earlier models for which videos and guides abound. So, without further ado: Removing the tank fairings on the 2018+ MT07! First, remove the seats. Screws 1 and 2 are at the base of the seat - release the passenger seat, then remove these two screws, and remove the seat. Next, remove the screws on the sides of the scoops: Then the screws at the front of the scoops. Note, only the …

I just found THIS posted on Cycle world. Seems like an easy way to align your rear wheel that can save you a few bucks on buying an alignment tool. I'll be using this method next time I need to adjust my chain.

Finally got my plugs in and finished the job yesterday. Here's how it went. Required: 14 mm deepwell socket 12 mm socket Ratchet & 2 extensions. Torque wrench 4 & 5 mm allen wrench 2x NGK LMAR8A-9 plugs Maybe: Tubing, duct tape, magnet grabber, probably some beer, music. Start by removing the plastics, plastic tank ring and tank. It's covered elsewhere, but here's a basic rundown. Seat off, then plastics, then we can disconnect the tank. To move the tank, you have to undo the plug on the bottom and front of the tank, and the breather hoses as well. Cover the bike and reposition the tank. Now locate t…

This is a short how-to on flushing your cooling system and replacing the coolant. I used Engine Ice, a propylene glycol-based coolant, but the manual calls for a "high quality ethylene glycol coolant safe for aluminum engines". Note: this procedure should be done on a day above freezing temperature to avoid the coolant flush from freezing in your engine and cooling system. Tools/supplies you'll need: 2mm hex key for radiator retaining bolt 5mm hex key for the reservoir bolt 6 (8?) mm box or flare nut wrench for the coolant drain bolt New coolant drain bolt [95022-06010-00] and copper washer [90430-06014-00] (if you so desir…

Here’s a quick guide on how to measure your bikes front fork sag. I hope this is useful for y’all. For a review on the E-Bay, Amazon, AliExpress adjusters I used, see here: Click Here Step 1: Extend the fork completely and measure from the two set points. This time I literally lifted the front wheel completely off the ground using the “Ye Olde Sidestand Swivel Trick”. On my bike I have fork gaiters fitted so it’s not possible to measure from the dust seal as is pretty much the standard way to do it. On my bike I put some masking tape in two positions as seen in this picture. One piece of tape on the lower triple, and one on my actual fork gaiter This m…

This may be obvious to many of you here, but I know there are some of us here who are new to motorcycles and it was not so obvious to me. There is no need to disassemble the headlight to adjust the aim (I found this out after I had taken the light off several times). Note: thanks to MXRider and his handy service manual I have definitive information that the right side screw is for horizontal adjustment and the left is for vertical. I am correcting the how to with this info. Vertical beam adjustment is from the left side. There is a brass colored screw that can be seen when you look between the left fork and the tank. It is just below and left of where the bu…

Guys Just for info. I have just reset the engine management light on my 2019 MT07. Bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/VOANZO-Adapter-Connector-Scanner-Compatible/dp/B0BN3Y2261/ref=sxin_16_pa_sp_search_thematic_sspa?content-id=amzn1.sym.82fd8c43-dd4d-4c5d-9db0-df7088ba15db%3Aamzn1.sym.82fd8c43-dd4d-4c5d-9db0-df7088ba15db&crid=2XCMEY31XX81Q&cv_ct_cx=4+pin+yamaha+obd+connector&keywords=4+pin+yamaha+obd+connector&pd_rd_i=B0BN3Y2261&pd_rd_r=7f2eb8e8-a024-414b-80e8-90006634e7c6&pd_rd_w=2IbYC&pd_rd_wg=dkOwv&pf_rd_p=82fd8c43-dd4d-4c5d-9db0-df7088ba15db&pf_rd_r=FYV4GTK10TF48QF3PF8W&qid=1746213570&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D…

Symptoms A "ringing" tone loud enough to hear standing next to bike. Put your ear on the tank and there is also always a subtle "chirping" maybe 3 times a second that may be normal but seems to become louder over time/or stress of long hot summer day ride. Ringing rarely happens at first, several weeks between first three times it happened, then started getting a lot more often, 3 times a week. I was able to replace the pump before it failed, or before there was any actual fueling shortage symptom. Pump kept working, but it was screaming the failing ring. Just my symptoms, you could experience different symptoms. Confirming I pulled the bodywork off the tan…

It was pointed out recently on another forum that you can actually just "un-screw" the Yamaha coils to get them off (because the spark plug tips are threaded). No more busted fingers or damaged parts? I'll give it a try on next plug change. Edit: want to properly attribute this to user JCFZ09 FYI

Here is the good stuff searchin about how to replace a clutch written up by some of the best folks on this site, @mossrider, @shinyribs, @Cruizin, and bunch more of the good folks, spread out across different threads. Read all the threads that come back from this search (by clicking my hyperlink "searchin" above) if you are unsure about clutch change. I'll toss in a few ideas that might help as well, but read everybody else explaining first, then consider this... (1) There is a trick to getting the clutch arm (that the clutch cable pulls directly on at the clutch cover) in the right position so that the stamp on the arm aligns with the stamp on the clutch cover/…

Which point do I measure from? Red, green, or blue? And I go diagonally, not straight down, yes? How much pressure should I be putting on the chain with my finger? The manual and the service manual are kinda vague in my opinion. It’s a bit jerky at times shifting gears, like it’s trying to catch up…assuming tightening my chain will help?

Any source please for a 40T or 41T rear sprocket? Where can I order it? For a 2017 FZ07. Smallest I found is 42T. Thanks!

I bought a 2018 MT07 that had a FT ECU tuner already installed on the bike. I have the 6 pin data link usb cable and 6 pin bench harness. I’m wanting to get the Jason Britton tune. I have never tuned anything in my life and was wondering if anyone could walk me through how to get the tune flashed to my bike

Anyone have ideas/solutions for getting the back of the bike off the ground? I have a paddock stand and axle spools on the back, but thats not helpful for a suspension swap. I have a hydraulic lift I could perhaps use. I saw one guy rigged something with a ladder and rachets.

Yes, I've search and unfortunately mt09 videos come up and also videos from people who have the opposite problem. So, it's jerky; my question is - what have you guys done to smooth it out? The bike has a power commander, I'm not sure how it's tuned. I don't have a "race" bike; but based what I've read the throttle is more like a race bikes (much less degree of movement to get power); so you are never fully flexing your wrist to make this bike go. I can live with it or get use to it, but I think it would be more fun if it was a little more smooth and linear...I have to take the bike in to get the chain inspected in 200 miles; should I have the bike flashed o…

Hi, I am new to this forum, and the MT-07. I recently purchased a 2022 MT-07, and have read Cjanssen83's post about measuring chain slack. What I am wondering tho, is it normal for the chain to rest on top of the swing arm, while the bike is on stands ? I have measured the slack, and it appears to be correct. Just wondering, because my other bike does not exhibit this behavior when its on the stands. Other bike is a 2000 Kaw ZRX 1100.

I've had a front left brake rotor failure - the carrier appears mis-shapened by the forces at work. It's the original OEM rotors, used 4 seasons & 82K miles, no track days. Recognizing symptoms: all this riding season I have rare events, some kind of "movement" of stressed hard parts sometimes with sounds when braking. Attention is drawn to the front end because it's felt in the bars. I run thru the possibilities - calipers/pads, steering head, forks, and wheel bearings. Inspection looks normal, forks are moving smoothly, steering head seems secure. I recently had major service - at 76K miles, to get this bike ready for "the second half of it's life". Forks …

Hey guys, I have this Healtech shift light I am trying to get working. It has 3 wires: power (setup and working), ground (working) and RPM signal (not working) I was under the impression I could pull RPM signal off the gray wire coming up from the alternator that plugs into this white plug under the rectifier, this is supposed to be crank signal. The shift light is not seeing an RPM signal though. Anyone have any ideas? should I pull from the coil instead? Pretty sure this CP2 motor used wasted spark? thanks.
