Premium Member biggaudi Posted July 21, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 21, 2016 So I'm doing my first oil change since I installed a reuseable oil filter from PC Racing. It has a magnet on the inside to help capture particles. You can clearly see the black ring where the magnet has some things clinging. A similar amount of crud was stuck the magnet drain plug. Hopefully this helps prolong engine life? Just thought I'd share. Have a nice day!
bmwpowere36m3
[strong]Hopefully this helps prolong engine life?[/strong] Which the reusable filter or magnet... magnet will make you feel better about "catching" tiny particles and the oil filter likely is not nearly as a low-micron efficient as a paper one (and messy to deal with). So NO to both.
Premium Member avanti Posted July 21, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 21, 2016 I just use a very strong, reusable, stick-on magnet outside a stock-type filter... on everything without specialized oiling systems (dry-sump, etc, with different filters). They are readily available from SummitRacing and others.
Premium Member Mr.Puss Posted July 21, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 21, 2016 I just stuck some n52's on the filter as well as a plug magnet from "Dimple". Crush your enemies. See them driven before you. Hear the lamentations of their women. Fuss Life.
